Convert in your browser
- Open HEIC to JPG in a current desktop browser.
- Drag your .heic or .heif files into the box, or choose them in File Explorer. The queue allows up to 30 files, 50 MB each and 200 MB in total.
- Select JPG quality. High is a useful starting point; a lower setting generally makes a smaller file with more compression.
- Select Convert files. Keep the tab open until processing finishes.
- Download files individually or prepare a ZIP and then click Download ZIP. Extract the ZIP before attaching the images to another app.
If you want to use a Windows app
Photos may request HEIF and HEVC extensions before it can open a HEIC photo. Use the Microsoft Store links supplied by Windows, and review any price before installing. Once an editor can open the photo, look for an Export or Save as option that explicitly offers JPEG. Menus and format support depend on the app version.
Why changing .heic to .jpg does not work
A filename is a label. Changing its extension does not decode or re-encode the contents. If you renamed the original, restore the .heic extension and run a real conversion. In File Explorer, enable file-name extensions if you cannot see the suffix.
Fix common conversion problems
Not enough memory: close other large tabs and convert one image at a time. A compressed file can require much more RAM after decoding.
Photo not found: download the full original from iCloud or your other cloud provider before choosing it.
JPG too large: retry with Balanced quality. A different compression format does not guarantee a smaller file.
Need lossless output encoding: try HEIC to PNG. It may use considerably more storage.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Microsoft codec for this converter?
The browser tool bundles a HEIC decoder. Windows Photos may still need separate codec support to open the original.
Can I overwrite the original?
The website creates a download. Keep it separate from your original until you have checked the result.
